 Merging is the "Holy Grail" !

Sweden Post has been undergoing a process of modernisation since the 1990s. We are currently overhauling our infrastructures, which will lead to the closure of four old sorting centres and the construction of two new ones. These sites will be ideally located from a logistics point of view and will be large enough to accommodate more high-performance equipment. This will allow us to improve our competitiveness and maintain our profitability, even if the downward trend in letter mail volumes persists over the long term.


It is every postal operator’s dream to have equipment that can process all postal items, whilst still maintaining flexibility. Nonetheless, postal items all have different sorting speeds.. So to optimise operations, various technologies must be employed whilst adhering to a double constraint - sorting mail within the given timeframe and maintaining profitability. To achieve this we can invest in new equipment – which we will – but in order to create an optimal process for sequencing and preparing for a lean distribution we have also expanded the time frame for collection and distribution, which simply means earlier emptying of mail boxes and later days for the mailman.  Read more
