Ergonomics and sustainable development (06/2009)

SOLYSTIC has been able to adopt the highest standards by taking a voluntary approach and working constantly.

Today, improving working conditions means thinking in terms of ergonomics and sustainable development. SOLYSTIC is fully committed to this desire to “produce better,” which involves its personnel, sub-contractors, service providers, and clients.

Problem in hand

Using ergonomics to improve operator working conditions.

Assisting postal operators in their role of social responsability, acting for the future of the planet.

Being ahead of regulatory requirements in participating to every process worldwide, European and National.

Solutions proposed by SOLYSTIC

Eliminate all annoyances for the machine operator: reducing the sound level, improving of the easy to use and the maintanability.

Be ahead of requirements applicable to the sector. SOLYSTIC applies the RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment), requirements that not yet apply to "large industrial equipment".

Results

Obtaining of the ISO 9001 certificate in 1994 and ISO 14001 in 2007, on the basis of a volontary approach.

Reduction of machine noise to a level below that fixed by the European directives, with 66 dB for the MARS machine, for example.

Production of a carbon footprint report for all products used, with compensation if required.

Acceptance by postal operator's personnel of the choice of equipment (based on comparative expert analyses carried out by clients).

Focus on ISO standards

In 1987 the first ISO 9001 standard was drafted, mainly dealing with the respect of contractual obligations. In 1994, the revised norm became much more demanding, involving documentary references. The 2000 version introduced an idea of ongoing measurement.

Gradually, environmentalism increased in importance, and in 1996 gave rise to the first ISO 14001 norm. In terms of work health and safety, the legislation was developed over time and resulted in the OHSAS 18001 guidelines (not a standard) covering manufacturing company operations and procedures. >> find out more
