A highly modular solution
Developed in 1995, the STAR range is based on SOLYSTIC’s solid experience. Many hundreds of letter sorting machines have been built and installed for our customer base in many countries, all with very different requirements. This wide range of needs has enabled us to successfully develop specific products.
Highly modular, STAR machines can be one or two-sided, configured in an L or U shaped as well as mirrored machines. The range is constantly evolving. With its customers’ needs in mind, SOLYSTIC designs its machines for across-the-board compatibility.
Range handled by STAR
STAR accepts mail of up to C5+ (B5) format and 8 mm in thickness. The volume of mail handled manually is therefore significantly reduced, as are operating costs.

How does it work
STAR comprises two major parts:
-
the front of the machine, which includes the destacking unit, detection of non-machinable pieces or multiple feeds, mail pieces levelling, image acquisition and bar code reading, printing and verifying;
-
the outputs, which are available either as bins, stackers (500, 410 or 365 mm) or a mixture of both. Stackers are particularly recommended for sequencing activities (carrier routes preparation).
With a view to improving user comfort and operations, many options are available on this machine, both at the input and output phase. The STAR Duplex version (on two levels) allows you to prepare multiple rounds (80 to 100) all at the same time.
Strong points
Wide range of mail processed.
High throughput.
Well-designed ergonomics.
Optimised maintenance.
Tried and tested product.
Open interfaces.
Image processing
Usually sorting is based on two main sources of information: the image of the letter and the barcode. The system uses a unit called COPERNIC™ to capture the image. Processing of handwritten and typed addresses is then carried out by the OCR, by a video coding system, or using a virtual identifier (V-Id™). >> find out more
Optimum ergonomics and optimised maintenance
As early as the design phase, STAR’s ergonomics were taken into account through an analysis of workstations. All STAR machines are equipped with a touch sensitive colour control panel. User-friendliness combined with effective testing and adjustment tools help to ensure that necessary maintenance activities are carried out as efficiently as possible.
