Avoiding addressing errors for improving mail deliverability.
SOLYSTIC has created the concept of an intelligent customer applied identifier (iCAI): large volume mailers print a bar-coded reference on their mail, giving instant access to the address description.
iCAI is an identifier assigned to an envelope and printed by the sender. The electronic file contains, among other things, information about the addressee (sorting attributes) is generated by the sender. Once created by the sender, it is forwarded to the postal operator who is able to check and correct the validity of the addresses. The corrected attribute file is then sent back to the sender who may update his address database and print the correct address on the physical mailpieces. The iCAI is printed on each envelope in the form of a barcode. When the envelopes arrive at the sorting centre, they are then processed by machines that can read iCAIs.
UAA’s mail can account for 2-5% of a company’s turnover (according to a survey published by Accenture). In the USA, the Data Warehousing Institute estimates that American companies spend over $ 600 billion/year on mail that never reaches its destination. iCAI, which enables companies to check addresses before they are even printed on to envelopes, can drastically reduce costs caused by UAA’s. iCAI has already been installed by Belgian Post under the name “Mail-Id”.
